Week 4, CHAPTER 19: Lovely Garden and Bright Flowers

"...she tried the little golden key in the lock, and to her great delight it fitted! Alice opened the door and found that it led into a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole: she knelt down and looked along the passage into the loveliest garden you ever saw. How she longed to get out of that dark hall, and wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those cool fountains, but she could not even get her head though the doorway; `and even if my head would go through,' thought poor Alice, `it would be of very little use without my shoulders."-- Chapter 1, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

At last, my own [Lynne Phelps of Savvy Sisters Studio] Mad Hatter card which should have been out on Sunday! I was starting to fear this was the post that wouldn't happen. The USB adapter I use to connect the cable to my camera had disappeared. No doubt my two Siamese-mix rescue cats had been using it as a feline hockey puck as I finally found it three rooms away!

I had a fabulous time coloring in this fantastic Mad Hatter image, which I love love love! It is in the style of the Tim Burton movie character, played by Johnny Depp, and I used that as my inspiration. I used Copic markers to color, adding white gel pen under the eyes and clear Stardust Gelly Roll pen on the twinkle lines in the image to make them sparkle!
I wanted a different take on the garden theme. I love the way the movie character had ribbon snippets tacked to his coat pocket, which was the inspiration for the ribbons across the bottom. In keeping with the garden theme, two of them are flowered and one has botanical swirls. Then I used a twig and leaf border punch down the edge to complete the garden theme. Please stop by and leave a comment on my blog, Savvy Sisters Studio!

Amy Bowerman Stucki of Plucking Daisies made this wonderful teacup planter; this cup is huge! She colored in the charming garden scene with Copic markers, and used Mod Podge Spray to seal it onto the teacup planter. Amy said this is her favorite product to seal Copic coloring. Of course she hit the teacup planter with some turquoise Glitterblast spray paint!
You may or may not realize that Amy is the Queen of Upcycling around here. Visit Amy at Plucking Daisies for many amazing makeovers with her recycled projects, great tutorials, and she also has tips on adhering stamped artwork to curved surfaces. Leave a comment while you are there!

Meme/Donna of Meme's Art Place gives us tiny Alice wandering in the garden of flowers on the cover of this fun tri-fold card! I love the mix of colors and patterns against the neutral card base, adding to the lively feeling with all the punched flowers!  Hmmmm, what is that peeking out at the top above the flowers?
What fun to see the Cheshire Cat inside! I love this digi stamp with that big grin and the hat perched on top! The punched flowers continue inside to accent the two wings of this tri-fold card. Great job Meme! Be sure to stop by Meme's Art Place to leave a comment.

Donna Mundinger of Popsicle Toes created this fabulous tiered box out of recycled tape and ribbon spool cores! The scalloped layers are reminiscent of flowers. Love the alpha beads and the gold embossed key, and they way she split the key on either side of the keyhole! The cut keyhole layer raised on foam tape adds so much dimension to the Alice keyhole digi stamp.
You can see the whole thing swiveled open here.
The bank of flowers up one side is perfect with the garden theme, and it hides all the mechanics that attach the layers.
The top is swiveled open to reveal the first tier of the box. The brad through the flower center acts as a swivel. Love the fresh colors and gingham prints with the fun Alice digi stamp!
Lots more dimension and embellishments at the bottom of the lower tier. Great coloring, it is so fun and charming. Be sure to stop by Popsicle Toes to get all the details and leave a comment for Donna!

Erin Leveille of Stamp Til U Cramp created this boldly colored, dimensional card! I love the way her lovely saturated coloring looks so vivid against the graphic black and white patterned background. The matching cluster of garden flowers compliments the coloring, and shaped bottom border with the dots (gel pen or piercing?) is the perfect finishing touch.

Erin colored at least three of some elements and did lots of fussy cutting to stack them in a paper tole technique. Bravo Erin, this effort was really worth it and the card must be fabulous in real life with all this dimension. Be sure to stop by Erin's blog and leave her a comment on her vivid card!

Barbara Washington of Magic Delights decorated a wonderful wooden wall plaque with a scene from the Garden of Living Flowers, where we see these delightful blossoms with their lovely molded faces telling Alice that of course they can talk when there's someone worth talking too! I love all the dimension with the lovely flowers.
The tag on the corner is Alice peering out the keyhole from the Hall of Doors.
The Cheshire Cat is pointing the way to the rose garden where the Queen of Hearts awaits!
Please be sure to stop by Barbara's blog to leave her a comment on this Wonderland creation!

Bonnie McLain of Love Light and Peace created a fabulous accordion book that is zig-zag folded with two pop-out stages on each side. The garden theme is established with her lovely heart frame and flowers, and we see Alice peeping through the keyhole at the colorful garden! I love all the text layered over the brilliantly colored background textures.
Each side of the book has two of these pop-out frames; this one shows a charming Alice image surrounded by card suits. I love the way Bonnie included her own illustrations of tangled doodles around the frame opening and her lovely flowers. Clearly Alice is happy in this beautiful garden!
The Mad Hatter image is my favorite! Bonnie surrounded the frame with more of her original doodles and flowers, lovely! To see the Queen and the Cheshire Cat frames on the other side, you will have to visit Bonnie's blog.
The back with Alice in a teacup is as lovely as the front. Bravo Bonnie for such a fab project! Please stop by Love Light and Peace to leave a comment for Bonnie and to see the other two pop-out frames!

Our fabulous Tracy Evans has created a royal garden fit for this sassy Queen of Hearts! The large flower at left and the metal posy corners help to emphasize our theme, as does the color scheme of rose pinks and reds.
The way Tracy combined the digital image and the text stamp is really brilliant. She even has the Queen word from the stamp centered on her flower; you know how I love those texty details!
Tracy did some paper-piecing and popped up layers on the dress. I love the text inside the dress, it adds so much to the image! Thanks Tracy for such a great project. Be sure to stop by Tracy's blog to leave her  comment!
